A Message from our Medical Director

This is a heavy flu season and you are probably very concerned about the spread of the new COVID-19, Coronavirus. This is understandable. Here are some tips for taking care of yourselves and your loved ones:

  1. Avoid close contacts with anyone that is sick.
  2. Stay home if you are sick.
  3. Avoid shaking hands with others.
  4. Wash your hands regularly. Use soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. This is the most important step you can take.
  5. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.
  6. When you cough or sneeze, it is important to use a tissue, then throw it in the trash. Or, when tissue is not available use your elbow.
  7. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  8. Please do NOT go to the emergency room for a routine cough or cold.

If you need medical advice, please call Alliance Medical Center Call Center at (707) 433-5494 and ask to speak with a Nurse. There is currently no vaccine to prevent the Coronavirus. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases.

For information about handwashing, see CDC’s Handwashing website. These are everyday habits that can help prevent the spread of several viruses. The CDC does have specific guidance for travelers.
